2 July 2021 — Barangay officials of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya and Sta. Maria, Isabela attended an awareness campaign on Bantay ASF sa Barangay (BABay ASF) conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute yesterday and last June 30, respectively.
BABay ASF is a joint flagship program of the Department of Agriculture through the National Livestock Program, Philippine College of Swine Practitioners, and Provincial, Municipal, and Barangay Local Government Units to control and prevent ASF.
BABay ASF is a community based approach to prevent, control, and manage ASF applying sound epidemiologic principles and available technology.
The Provincial Veterinary Offices of their respective provinces presented the biosecurity measures they are implementing to control the spread of the disease. In addition, repopulation and recovery programs of the LGUs were also presented.
On the other hand, representatives from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation shared their services that could be availed by the farmers for their livestock and other commodities.
