Philippines Sets New Record for Most Pork Dishes at Hog Festival 2024
The Philippines secured a new Guinness World Record for serving the most variety of pork dishes during the opening of Hog Festival 2024 on March 1st at Araneta City. The event, led by the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NatFed) and Chairman Chester Warren Tan, was joined by prominent figures including Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., Senator Cynthia Villar, and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.
A staggering 313 unique pork dishes were presented, surpassing the minimum requirement and officially etching the Philippines’ name in the record book.
“This international event breaks boundaries and positions the Philippines as a top food tourism destination,” said Secretary Tiu Laurel. He emphasized the significance of supporting local pork production and consumption, highlighting the irresistible flavors of Filipino pork delicacies as a tourist draw beyond the country’s beautiful beaches. Other key personalities who graced the event included Department of Agriculture Undersecretary for Livestock Deogracias Victor Savellano, Department of Tourism Regional Director Sharlene Zabala-Batin, Sinag Chairman Rosendo So, and Guinness World Records Adjudicator Sonia Ushirogochi.
