Training on Biosecurity and Pig Management

July 30, 2021 @ 9:00 AM - 12:15 PM

Free

Rationale:

With the emergence of the African Swine Fever which affected many countries around the world, Biosecurity has become one of the hottest issues of discussion from and among the stakeholders along the value chain.

Along the production cycle in pig production, hygiene and biosecurity are among the basic requirements for safe farming and safe food production.

Implementing sound biosecurity practices in the farm is considered as the best defense against pests and diseases.  To protect the farm and its future, quick and simple measures have to be built into everyday practices.   It is very important for a farm/area to have a biosecurity plan that will help assess the biosecurity risks and illustrate the steps to address them.

With this half-day training,  the participants will be learning about basic biosecurity and pig management.

Course contents:

1. Biosecurity 101

2. Pig production cycle and biosecurity

3. Government programs  on Repopulation
