21 July 2021 — The Center, through its Livestock Program led by Senior Agriculturist and Focal Person Ms Shirley L. Beldia and Alternate Focal Person Mr. Errol Chris Laspiñas, conducted the Bantay African Swine Fever (ASF) sa Barangay: Training on Specimen Collection for Barangay Biosecurity Officers (BBOs) on July 20, 2021 at Brgy. Sinawal, General Santos City.

It was participated by 20 identified BBOs from the different barangays of General Santos City to gain knowledge on specimen collection and biosecurity response.

City Veterinarian Dr. Anthony Ephren Marin graced the one-day activity and encouraged all identified BBOs to be always vigilant to combat and win the battle against ASF.

On the other hand, Laboratory Division Chief, Dr. Jennifer Bulawan and her staff Dr. Sheena discussed and performed the proper procedure on blood sample collection in swine for laboratory purposes.
Also, the Veterinary Quarantine Office of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI-12) was invited to discuss the Guidelines on Swine Movement and Biosecurity.

Dr. Emilio Gargaran of the City Veterinarian Office led the Oath taking ceremony for the duly deputized BBOs in there community.
